Joplin Trip, June 2011
We went to the same place that the guys were the day before so they could help cut more wood for a man named Carry. His neighbor, Bonnie, had some loggers come clear off some of the trees that were down. They charged her to take her logs—I don’t know how it is in all states but I know in Missouri you get paid when people take your logs!! Well needless to say we were livid and wanted to help her! They had completely torn up her yard and ripped her off! So we set off to talk to her and she was grateful to have us! We raked and picked up sticks and debris and mowed and put mulch in her flower beds! I hope we made a difference for her! I just feel so bad and wish I could find those loggers and give them a piece of my mind!!! Grr!
Anyways…We were invited to lunch by the lovely lady we met at Southside Church of God. She said it was at a ministry that the church supported, and that there would be a short service before the meal, I thought that was pretty neat! When we got there we found out it was a homeless shelter! I have never eaten lunch at a homeless shelter; I don’t think I’ve ever even been to one! It was a complete eye opener to be there! The service was wonderful and so was the meal! It was heartbreaking to see how many people were there though and it made me wonder how many more would have to show up because their home or work was destroyed by the tornado. The shelter was run by several small churches that couldn’t facilitate it on their own but together they had created a wonderful thing!! It was simply remarkable!
On our way out we once again drove through the damage and I can tell you it was no easier to see it a second time.

Dessert Anyone?!
Since he is home for his birthday (We're pretty busy tomorrow so we did our birthday thing today!) I decided to make him a nice dinner with one of his favorite desserts! This is my first attempt at tiramisu! It has to chill for another hour but i'm praying it will taste as good as dinner!! ;) also I tried to make a heart out of the cocoa powder lol. It didn't turn out so awesome! Haha!

I"m celebrating those fighting, I'm walking for those who can't anymore, and fighting back against that dreaded disease that touches so many. I am determined to make a difference!

West Plains Flooding 2011

This is a picture of the Habitat Restore in WP.
The picture was taken by J. Brotherton.

This is one of the bridges in town. Pretty much all of the bridges flooded over! They have finally gone down but with more rain coming tonight, I'm sure they'll be back up!
Lucky for us our house is on a hill! We had a little bit of flooding in our yard...more like a small river running from neighbor to neighbor! LOL
Our basement did(does) have a leak in our furnace room that we were unaware of! So our basement did flood just a bit. Nothing compared to some though! We were very lucky!

New Addition!
We got a new baby about 2 weeks ago!
His name is T-Bone. When we got him his name was Teaspoon but I thought he looked like T-Bone from Clifford the Big Red Dog! I think he likes it better too! :)
After about a week he had to go to the vet overnight to have his "cherry eye" taken care of. Bailey looked all over for him, it was so sweet. I'm so glad they get along so well. He is an aggresive dog when it comes to other dogs (which i found out at the vet :/ not the best place to learn these things lol,) but he is so good with Bailey!
Speaking of Bailey, I better not leave her picture out...she is very jealous! LOL
