Learning to be patient...

We had an ultrasound to find out if Cole has a cleft palette or just a cleft lip. It took us 3 ultrasounds to find out it could possibly be both but nothing is for sure because he keeps his hand in his face. The ultrasound tech wasn't very nice and I think he knew that and he didn't want to cooperate with her. We're still in the same boat with no more knowledge than we already had but I had my breakdown and am just going to go with the flow and trust in the Lord! Here is his beautiful face from Thursday! he has his hand in his face on his left side LOL

Baby Update! 8-2011

Yesterday we had our monthly OB appointment!
All my tests from last month came back great and I have only gained 1lb so far!!! :) YAY!!
We also have the schedule for all of our appointments until Peanut arrives!
Our ultrasound is set for October 11, and I cannot wait to know if I should refer to peanut as a him or her! There has been much debate and I just don't know! I will be happy with either!
I also scored a $300 glider rocker for $50, and it reclines and swivels! I'm pretty proud of this purchase! :)

Hot Hot Hot!!!

Well our air went out about 3 weeks ago. I called some repair people to come take a look, a fixed leak and $300 later it worked...for a day. So a week and a half later... yes, i waited a week and half to see if it would come back on by prayer...I called again, he came back out and informed me the unit had yet another leak...and possibly more than one...but one was all that was found and my air was fixed again...for 4 hours, yes 4 hours and then it went kaput. I called the next Monday and he came out and basically told us we were outta luck and we would need to purchase a new unit...for $7,000-$12,000...OUCH!!! So needless to say we are putting up with the heat and praying the fall comes quickly!

Joplin Trip, June 2011

Thursday morning I woke up at 3:10 am to catch my ride in the Church van with 5 wonderful people! We were on our way to Joplin to see what we could do to help out. We were just chatting away when all of a sudden we drove into the devastation, it was horrifying and nauseating, like we stepped into a third world country that has just been bombed. We made our way to the Southside Church of God in Joplin. We took a tour of their church and were on our way to the homes of two members of their congregation that were in need. The boys were taken to one house to cut and split wood and us girls went to a farm to pick up debris. We found pictures, baseball cards, old check, tax papers, school books, yearbooks and children’s books. We mostly picked up pieces of homes (insulation, shingles, siding, foam and other construction type things.) The place we were at was miles away from the tornado path and it was heartbreaking to see everything that had blown so far. We saved all the pictures and baseball cards and I pray they will make their way back to their owners one day. I know pictures would be hard for me to lose!

We were able to get a nice shower, food and a place to sleep at the Granby Church of God. They were so gracious and hospitable! It was a wonderful night of sleep after our long first day! We woke up bright and early, had a nice breakfast and headed out for our second day!
We went to the same place that the guys were the day before so they could help cut more wood for a man named Carry. His neighbor, Bonnie, had some loggers come clear off some of the trees that were down. They charged her to take her logs—I don’t know how it is in all states but I know in Missouri you get paid when people take your logs!! Well needless to say we were livid and wanted to help her! They had completely torn up her yard and ripped her off! So we set off to talk to her and she was grateful to have us! We raked and picked up sticks and debris and mowed and put mulch in her flower beds! I hope we made a difference for her! I just feel so bad and wish I could find those loggers and give them a piece of my mind!!! Grr!
^This is a picture of her yard the destroyed!^

Anyways…We were invited to lunch by the lovely lady we met at Southside Church of God. She said it was at a ministry that the church supported, and that there would be a short service before the meal, I thought that was pretty neat! When we got there we found out it was a homeless shelter! I have never eaten lunch at a homeless shelter; I don’t think I’ve ever even been to one! It was a complete eye opener to be there! The service was wonderful and so was the meal! It was heartbreaking to see how many people were there though and it made me wonder how many more would have to show up because their home or work was destroyed by the tornado. The shelter was run by several small churches that couldn’t facilitate it on their own but together they had created a wonderful thing!! It was simply remarkable!

On our way out we once again drove through the damage and I can tell you it was no easier to see it a second time. Pictures can't do justice.

Well good news...Josh didn't have to go after all. He made it to Springfield before his boss called and told him to go home!! :) yay!!!
Since he is home for his birthday (We're pretty busy tomorrow so we did our birthday thing today!) I decided to make him a nice dinner with one of his favorite desserts! This is my first attempt at tiramisu! It has to chill for another hour but i'm praying it will taste as good as dinner!! ;) also I tried to make a heart out of the cocoa powder lol. It didn't turn out so awesome! Haha!

Suppa Cuties!!!

I had a wonderful past couple of days hanging out with two of my favorite girls! Joyce was a little sick which made for a difficult night the first night. She slept really well the second night but every time she made a noise I would wake up. lol I had the absolute best help though. My husband is the greatest!! He helped me both nights (even when I said I was ok) I think he really enjoyed it! That first night I was second guessing the whole "having kids" thing, but he was amazing and I know I could handle it with him by my side! I don't mean to toot my own horn about picking a great husband but...TOOT TOOT!! :)
Aren't they the cutest?!?! Yes, Yes they are!!!!

More new family members...

We had been planning on getting a cat for a while. We wanted one we could keep outside to keep mice down and all that good stuff! We only wanted one...
Gabby's cat had kittens and I had picked one out as soon as they were born (The one on the right in the picture.) I went to picked it up when it was eating on it's own and Gabby told me that I could not have only one because he would get lonely and cry all the time and well it's hard to tell her know when she has such a good heart! :)
They were nameless for a while but we finally decided on Calvin and Hobbes! Hobbes is on the left and Calvin is on the right! Also, I'm kind of glad that she made me take both! Hobbes is much more lovable! :)
I think these are our last additions for a while! We have quite a bit of animals...hopefully babies will be next! ;)

West Plains Flooding 2011

We had a pretty good flood this past week. It has finally stopped raining but is supposed to rain again tomorrow. :(

This is a picture of the Habitat Restore in WP.
The picture was taken by J. Brotherton.

This is one of the bridges in town. Pretty much all of the bridges flooded over! They have finally gone down but with more rain coming tonight, I'm sure they'll be back up!

Lucky for us our house is on a hill! We had a little bit of flooding in our yard...more like a small river running from neighbor to neighbor! LOL

Our basement did(does) have a leak in our furnace room that we were unaware of! So our basement did flood just a bit. Nothing compared to some though! We were very lucky!

New Addition!

We got a new baby about 2 weeks ago!

His name is T-Bone. When we got him his name was Teaspoon but I thought he looked like T-Bone from Clifford the Big Red Dog! I think he likes it better too! :)

After about a week he had to go to the vet overnight to have his "cherry eye" taken care of. Bailey looked all over for him, it was so sweet. I'm so glad they get along so well. He is an aggresive dog when it comes to other dogs (which i found out at the vet :/ not the best place to learn these things lol,) but he is so good with Bailey!

Speaking of Bailey, I better not leave her picture out...she is very jealous! LOL
